About This Spot

Stepping up to Goodies Frozen Custard & Treats in Alexandria feels like visiting a cherished neighborhood nook where time slows just enough to savor a moment of simple pleasure. The cheerful burst of flowers and greenery framing the outdoor seating invites a quiet pause, offering a small retreat from the day’s bustle. Here, the pace is unhurried, the hum of conversation a gentle backdrop to the soft clink of spoons and the faint, nostalgic notes of old-school tunes floating from the order window.

This is no ordinary ice cream stop — it’s a place where each treat carries a whisper of home and a touch of whimsy. The frozen custard arrives not as a rushed serving, but a handcrafted delight, rich and familiar, often tucked between spiced donuts or crowned with warm, buttery toppings. There’s a joyful creativity in how flavors mingle: the tang of ripe peaches meets the creaminess of custard in a way that feels both comforting and a little adventurous, while classic soda floats bubble with a lively fizz that invites sharing and smiles.

Goodies cultivates an atmosphere that is at once inviting and intimate. The small, covered service window encourages a brief but meaningful connection with the friendly, eager staff who seem just as invested in your experience as the treats themselves. It's a place where first-timers are welcomed with samples — a warm gesture that feels more like sharing a secret than a sales pitch.

Drawing locals and visitors alike, Goodies is a steady beacon of small joys in Old Town Alexandria. It’s the kind of spot where a simple outing transforms into a sweet ritual, where the charm of the setting and the richness of the frozen custard come together to create memorable moments — quiet celebrations of flavor, comfort, and community.

Spotted Goodies Frozen Custard while visiting Alexandria in April. The nostalgic vibe and retro charm totally caught our eye. It was closed that day, but we made a note to come back on our next trip in June… and we’re so glad we did. We tried the Boogie Woogie (as seen on Food Network) and it did not disappoint. Creamy Wisconsin-style vanilla bean custard topped with buttered pecans, chocolate, and caramel. So good! Next time, we’re eyeing the shakes or one of the daily specials. Everything looked amazing! A few tips before you go: • It’s cash only • They’re open Thursday through Sunday • Hours are 12 to 6, or until they sell out We even introduced our local family to it and they’re hooked now too. Great spot, great staff, and absolutely worth the wait.

Still the cutest and most inviting establishment in Old Town! A great and delicious selection of frozen custard and treats with amazing customer service. The ambiance and scenery brings you in with the bright flowers into a very private area with a good number of seats. I had a pineapple and rum cake custard and it was truly, truly delicious. The other custard was a "Boogie Woogie" (turtle) that was very rich and creamy. I cannot wait to return and try their other flavors. To add, they do have a "Virginia is for lovers" painted if you can take a picture there with it!

Cute place! Love the vibe and outside seating. There is only an order window. They close the window “covered window” after the person in front of You orders. Leaving you standing there. Thats ok. No prices Posted anywhere and cash only - It comes in a small Chinese take out box- the smallest - no size options. Ice cream is soft Serve. Its a cute place

Made a trip to Old Towne while visiting family in DC. My oldest son said that we had to go to Goodies for their delicious custard. We did. He was right! Loved my Turtle Sundae. Drop by if you're in the area.

The cutest place! There is a nice outdoor seating area with a full garden of flowers/plants surrounding it. The man who served us was so friendly and insisted on giving us samples as soon as we told him it was our first time. It was $20 for both of our desserts. The dessert itself was soooo good. I usually don’t finish most meals, but I definitely finished this one. The portions are insanely good for $10 a piece. You can tell this place has a lot of love and charm. If you can please stop by!!

Saw rave reviews online about a custard shop, and decided to give it a shot. The location is great, centrally located with outdoor seating. One thing you should know is that this location is cash only. They do not take credit cards. There is a menu board out front, so please make sure to know what you want before getting to the window. The custard was great, and that was the highlight of the visit.
